| Pain Management Dr. Kevin Pho, one of our Internal Medicine physicians, heads up Nashua Medical Groups pain management efforts. By understanding, managing and alleviating pain, you can improve your quality of life. Trigger Point Injections Trigger points can produce pain locally and in a referred pattern and often accompany chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Acute trauma or repetitive microtrauma may lead to the development of stress on muscle fibers and the formation of trigger points. Trigger point injections can help with most types of musculoskeletal pain. Conditions that can be successfully treated with trigger point injections include: Chronic neck and back pain Osteoarthritis Herniated or degenerative disks Sciatica Fibromyalgia Scoliosis Acute muscle injury The procedure takes from 5-10 minutes, with minimal side effects. You can expect to return to work the same day, with relief that can last from several days to weeks. Viscosupplementation Therapy Using Euflexxa, a purified hyaluronan, we can treat patients with knee osteoarthritis. This may be an option for those where conservative therapy is not helping. Joint Injections Dr. Pho, along with orthopedic physician assistant, Nancy Conway-Clancy, perform steroid-based injections to treat arthritis, bursitis and effusions. Most pain management procedures are covered by major health plans and can be performed within one week or less. |
