Our History Nashua Medical Group has been serving Nashua and the surrounding areas for more than two decades. Like the region we serve, those years have seen our fair share of change. Through it all our doctors and staff remain steadfast in providing you with the best medical care available. Nashua Medical Group was founded during the 1980s as the Daniel Webster Medical Center—a spin-off of a Chelmsford, Massachusetts group called Chelmsford Medical Associates. In the early days, many of our patients were members of Multigroup. After acquiring Multigroup, Harvard Community Health Plan (HCHP) bought both Chelmsford Medical Associates and Daniel Webster Medical Center in 1989. That same year, operating out of the ground floor of our present building, we began to hire a full complement of doctors— and the name was changed from Daniel Webster Medical Center to Nashua Medical Group. In 1990, the ground floor was renovated while the practice remained in operation and the administrative offices moved upstairs. By 1992, HCHP had purchased the entire building and a large-scale renovation began. Pediatrics moved upstairs, enabling Internal Medicine, the Lab and X- ray to occupy the first floor. Behavioral Health and Medical Records moved to the lower level, and we added a new entrance lobby, elevator, and enhanced the overall look of the facility. In the mid-1990s, HCHP merged with Pilgrim Health Care to become Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Nashua Medical Group became the primary provider for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s Northern New England Region. Since 1998, as part of our commitment to expand insurance options for our patients, we have added HealthCare Value Management, Anthem (Blue Cross/Blue Shield), Cigna, Unicare, Aetna, Tufts and many others to our roster of insurance carriers. In 2008 Nashua Medical Group was purchased by St. Joseph Healthcare, a regional, full-service healthcare system serving the Greater Nashua area, western New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. Today, Nashua Medical Group still has a broad range of healthcare services and caring, qualified medical professionals right in your own neighborhood. We also have the support and resources of one of the regions leading healthcare providers minutes away. |
